I Had A Dream

I knew it was ready.

I plugged in my headphones and listened to check the levels. As I listened I forgot what I was supposed to be checking and found I was just hearing the song. Emotions welled up inside me as I was catapulted back into my days working around Europe and the fractured emails and texts that make up some of the lyrics. It was all about the distance: the distance between people who are doing what they love but cannot be together. It made me think about the future too - and how it would happen all over again.

It's ready, please listen and enjoy:

Lightkeeper MP3 (3'40)

NB To get more of an album vibe, then you should also download The Prophet and The End Of The World Part II which come before and after it respectively.

Next job is to record Until We Pass This Way Again - as a DJ would say... Stay tuned!

Lightkeeper
===========

I hope that you got home okay,
I had a coffee in Stockholm,
There are riots in Estonia,
And somewhere we are still at war.

I had a dream,
That I was the lightkeeper,
A beacon in the night,
I was the lightkeeper.

I've a fantasy to share with you,
But it's cold and it's wet,
They're burning cars at the airport,
But I can still get your text.

And I had a dream,
That I was the lightkeeper,
A beacon in the night,
I was the lightkeeper.

And the beautiful people were everywhere,
But they had no faces,
And you were blinded by the light,
And could only feel.

But you found me by my energy,
The days are long without you.
It's funny how when you find it,
You just can't live without it.

And I had a dream,
That I was the lightkeeper,
A beacon in the night,
I was the lightkeeper.

I hope that you got home okay,
I had a coffee in Stockholm,
There are riots in Estonia,
And somewhere, we are still at war...

hey
might try to make the sunday gig. listened to the mpeg - your voice sounds a bit strained and that middle bit with the strings things - no, doesn't work - also, you're a cool casual dude, your voice should be more bob dylan, ie less annunciated and sorta cooler - you know, like you're just saying how it is, casual, relaxed...

like the lyrics change - of course!

maybe some real strings ?

love the beautiful people bit and how it come in and when it comes in - v v v v v v v good !!!!

you're a star

shine!

Peach: Hey you, hope you do make it on Sunday. Thanks for the comments... the vocals are the hardest thing without someone else to comment... 'cos I just sing it and then think, hmmmm that's okay. Have to record super vocals for the next one, so will revisit this later perhaps...

I'd love real strings, real drums, real bass (well I could do that myself)... just need the money, the players and a couple of days at Abbey Road... ha ha.

See you soon sweetie!!

It must be the most amazing thing to see a project come to completion in that way. Well Done! x

Having My Cake: Thanks! Of course I have mixed feelings... the songs are never really finished... there is always more I'd like to do. But it's nice to draw a line under a song for a while at least.

I hope you enjoy listening!

Love the cover for the Lightkeeper, beautiful. While I was listening to it, N3S came and stood in front of the computer and did not move until the song was over. He has exceptionally good taste in music even though he is only 5 1/2 years old and I can assure you that you getting his undivided attention for an entire song is quite an accomplishment.

DJ Kirkby: Wow, that is high praise indeed. Your son has very good taste :o)

I love that picture too, it was taken during a very pleasant evening spent in the garden of the PSBs sound engineer near Dublin.
